Bobcat 773 Specs: Skid Steer Features and Design

The 773 Skid Steer is a non-current model skid steer offered by the company. Due to it being older, there is limited information available on it.

This article provides everything I’ve found on the website and brochure.

There appear to be two versions of the 773 that are available. The first is one from 1989 and the G-Series.

The differences between the two seem to be quite minimal. The main differences are in the overall length and weight.

Either way, all information is taken from the Bobcat website.

Bobcat 773 Specs

  • Rated Operating Capacity w/Counterweight: 1,850 lbs (839 kg)

The Bobcat 773 has a tipping capacity of 3,900 lbs which means that the vehicle will not be able to lift and will physically tip forward if exceeded. However, the operation capacity is the actual safe capacity that can be loaded on the skid steer.

The operating capacity is usually around 50% of the tipping capacity.

The operating capacity (ISO) of the Bobcat 773 is 1,750 lbs.

There is also the ability to have a 200 lb counterweight to accommodate 100 extra pounds.

Weight Specs

  • Operating Weight: 5,808 lbs (2,635 kg)

The Bobcat 773 weighs 5,808 lbs. This is important if you plan to transport this vehicle; you must know the weight in order to insure a trailer and truck that can support this weight.

  • Width: 68 in (172.7 cm)

Knowing the height of you vehicle is important as well because you need to understand how it can maneuver and fit either during transportation or on site.

The Bobcat 773 is 76.3 inches high, 68 inches wide, and 130.3 inches long with a standard bucket.

Interior Design

The 773 is a great skid steer that keeps the operator in mind. It focuses on making the operator comfortable but also safe. There is an adjustable cushion seat with a large opening for entry and exit, but there is a Bobcat Interlock Control System (BICS) which protects the driver from potential dangers of the machine. This provides safety by requiring the operator to be in the seat with the seat bar in place in order to use the hydraulic and lifting functions.

Also located inside is the instrument panel which provides monitoring and diagnostics for machine maintenance on major features. There are warning lights that will alert the driver when maintenance is required.

Performance Design

The 773 is designed with optimized performance in mind. There is a Dual Path Cooling System which helps keep the engine cool and clean.

There is an Engine Hydraulic Shutdown which will cause the engine to shut down in extreme conditions, like when temperature or pressure build up.

The Bobcat 773 comes with a range of attachments which can be seen in the list below.

The process of changing the attachments is very easy using the standard Bob-Tach mounting system. The entire process of swapping an attachment takes only about a minute with this mounting system.

There is the optional Power Bob-Tach system that provides additional power tool options to the loader.
